About Stavros Pachoundakis

I am a mobile engineer and AI architect based in Montréal, Québec. I build iOS and Android apps, native and cross-platform (React Native, Flutter, Kotlin Multiplatform), the backend services behind them and the AI inside them, for telecom, fintech and enterprise teams.

Background

In banking and fintech I have worked at National Bank of Canada, Scotiabank and PNC Bank. At National Bank I helped build the mobile app from the ground up, with shared Kotlin Multiplatform modules for Remote Deposit Capture and Okta sign-in, plus FIDO2/WebAuthn authentication. At Scotiabank I drove a SwiftUI-first modernization with CI/CD and 80%+ test coverage. At PNC Bank I lead the mobile team on the SwiftUI redesign of the flagship app, aligned with the Android and Flutter teams. On Android I have shipped Kotlin and Jetpack Compose features for Bell, Virgin Plus, Air Canada, TELUS Living and ABB, with Kotlin Multiplatform modules shared across both platforms.

In telecom I was Staff Mobile Developer on the Bell and Virgin Plus apps, and the same shared design system and Kotlin Multiplatform core also run Lucky Mobile. I led the mobile team on MyBell and Virgin Plus, which won Webby Awards, with about 80% of the domain and data code shared between iOS and Android. For TELUS Living I led a white-label amenities app and its design system to a first release in about a month.

In retail and travel I worked on the Sephora website and app screens, and on the Air Canada app, with real-time flight tracking through Live Activities and Dynamic Island, Apple Wallet boarding passes and offline-safe sync. Much of the bank and airline work came while I was at IBM, on enterprise mobile architecture and modernization for the PNC Bank and Air Canada apps.

On the AI side I design agent and MCP architectures, evaluation gates and streaming AI interfaces. For a bank's enterprise division (National Bank of Canada) I built the agent backend with LangGraph, FastAPI and RAG on Bedrock, the evaluation gates and the streaming chat UI in SwiftUI and React Native, and more than 75 people use it. For a telecom (Bell and Virgin Plus) I built a GenAI support assistant on Vertex AI, with every model change gated on an evaluation harness and a native streaming chat UI over a Ktor WebSocket. At TouchTunes I am Lead Mobile Engineer and Lead AI Architect, leading the mobile team and building an AI-integrated design system with Figma MCP and an MCP-compatible BFF API. I ship on-device ML to millions with Core ML and TensorFlow Lite, set AI-driven SDLC standards with guardrails and CI gates on every AI-generated change, and keep a multi-agent build system of my own, with isolated builder agents, an independent read-only evaluator and a supervision layer exposed over MCP.

On the platform side I care about what sits under the AI features. I have worked with model platforms on AWS Bedrock and Google Vertex AI, Python agent services in FastAPI and LangGraph, and Docker and Kubernetes. I keep an evaluation harness with regression gates in the path of model changes, guardrails and CI gates on AI-generated code, MCP-compatible BFF APIs, sign-in on Okta, OAuth2 and FIDO2, and the telemetry and monitoring around them. Other teams adopted the shared prompts, templates and agent components I set up. Around my own agents I built approval and spend gates that live in shared code, a safety store that snapshots every file write, a cap on heavy jobs and a command-line client over a local server.

I started in games at Ubisoft Montreal, building automated testing frameworks and backend tools for AAA releases, then moved into industry at Alcoa, where I owned the Mobile Maintainer platform, a Xamarin Forms app across five .NET and Azure repositories with 24x7 production support. Along the way came Livescale, with mobile SDKs for a B2B live-streaming commerce platform in SwiftUI, and Malea, with an industrial inventory system on Bluetooth Mesh.

By the numbers

I have built apps for 30+ companies. 200M+ people use the apps I worked on, and the Bell app won Webby Awards.

Technical focus

Swift, SwiftUI and UIKit on iOS. Kotlin, Jetpack and Compose on Android. Flutter, React Native and Kotlin Multiplatform for shared logic. MVVM, clean architecture, offline-first design, OAuth2 and OIDC, FIDO2 and WebAuthn, and WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility. For AI: Claude Code, the Claude API, MCP servers and clients, Figma MCP, LangGraph multi-agent systems, RAG and evaluation harnesses, streaming LLM interfaces, Core ML and TensorFlow Lite. GraphQL, REST, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes and Fastlane for delivery.

Languages

English (fluent), French (fluent) and Greek (native).
